Sweet Tooth

Anyone for some chocolates?

W
We had a lovely surprise a few days before Christmas 2018, with Mars Wrigley Confectionery offering us a large amount of chocolates. We gratefully accepted and went about receiving and distributing pallets of yumminess.

Christmas was a sweeter occasion this year for many children and families.

Just before Christmas we received a call from our good friend Jaime fromSancss Australia Ltd who had received a generous donation of chocolates from Mars Wrigley Confectionery for use by a variety of charities around Melbourne.

Gratefully, OzChild program & services team members met Jaime to collect some chocolates for distribution to families in time for Christmas.

Thanks SANCSS Australia & Mars Wrigley Confectionery for bringing some joy to the lives of many.

Christmas Cheer

There is great joy to be found in giving.

W
Working together with other groups and sponsors Sancss was able to source gifts for over 400 children in need. these were distributed to schools, indigenous agencies, community groups and a remote Aboriginal community.

These gifts lifted the spirits of many and brought smiles and happiness the the hearts of these children.

Christmas was a happier occasion this year.

Smart Phones for Children with Diabetes

W
We were surprised when we were asked if we could supply Smartphones to Frankston Hospital Diabetes Clinic. This was not something we had ever done before or thought of, however this did not stop the SANCSS team jumping into action.

Within a short period of time, phones had been sourced and delivered to Frankston Hospital.

Children who could not afford a smartphone could not have a medial chip placed in their am and with use of an mobile Ap, have their blood sugar levels monitored much more painless and effortless.

SANCSS is continuing to source smartphones for this purpose.

Local teenager Dylan, who has diabetes, no longer has to wake up during the night to check his glucose levels – thanks to Peninsula Health staff and Sancss Australia Ltd.

Children and young people with Type 1 diabetes have to monitor their glucose levels around the clock, by doing the finger prick test.

However there is an alternative, where a device is inserted under the skin to continuously monitor glucose levels and this information is then sent to an app on the person’s smart phone.

Peninsula Health paediatrician Dr Ylva Andersson knew Dylan would greatly benefit from access to this technology, he just needed a smart phone.

Thanks to Sancss, who donated an iphone to Dylan, he is now able to access continuous glucose monitoring.

Accessing this new technology has made a big difference to Dylan and made it much easier for him to keep his glucose levels under control, so he can spend more time doing things he enjoys.

Thank you Sancss!
